Brain-based therapy

You can know what you want to do differently and still find the old response taking over.

Under pressure, thoughts, body sensations, emotions and habits can move together quickly. Brain-based therapy brings these parts of your experience into the conversation, so we can understand the pattern and work with it in practical ways.

What we pay attention to

  • Stress responses: what happens before you feel overwhelmed, on edge or shut down.
  • Emotional regulation: recognising early cues and practising ways to create more space to respond.
  • Learned patterns: how past experiences and familiar coping strategies affect the present.
  • Daily foundations: the part played by sleep, routines, workload and relationships.

From explanation to practice

We use a situation from your own life as a starting point. We may map what happened, notice the first physical or emotional signals, explore the meaning you made of it, and practise a different response. The aim is to make the work understandable and relevant outside the therapy room.

My approach draws on neuroscience research alongside cognitive, emotionally focused and relational therapies. ARCHR²™ helps connect these conversations with a direction for the work.

Who might find this approach useful?

People come with anxiety, ADHD-related overwhelm, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation concerns and trauma-related patterns. We discuss your needs, what you hope to change, and whether this service is a suitable fit.

We agree on the focus and pace, review progress, and discuss other professional support when needed.
