About Dr Steve Halls

Dr Steve Halls, Behavioural Neurotherapist

Behavioural Neurotherapist · Researcher · Educator

I want therapy to help you understand yourself, as well as work through what is difficult.

I’m Dr Steve Halls, founder of Keystone Therapy. Over more than 30 years across neuroscience research and therapeutic practice, I have explored how stress, experience and relationships shape the ways we think, feel and respond.

That background informs the way I work with anxiety, ADHD-related difficulties, emotional regulation, trauma-related patterns and relationships. My starting point is you: what you are experiencing, what matters to you, and what a useful next step might look like.

From neuroscience to everyday life

My qualifications are BSc Hons · PhD · Cert Neurosci. · CAISP (Certified Applied Integrative Sciences Practitioner). My doctorate is from the University of London. Following my doctorate, I undertook research at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London, Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Institute of Neurological Science.

Research gave me a foundation for understanding the biology of behaviour. Therapeutic work brings that understanding into everyday life: overwhelm, difficult conversations, disrupted sleep and habits that are hard to shift.

How I work

We explore the pattern behind the difficulty. Sessions can draw on cognitive and emotionally focused approaches, body awareness, regulation strategies and relational work. As a PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator, I also use structured assessment and feedback in relationship work where appropriate.

You can expect conversation, explanation and practical work. We agree on a focus, consider what fits your circumstances, and review how things are progressing.

ARCHR²™ and the Syntropy Foundation™

As Founding Director of the Syntropy Foundation™, I developed ARCHR²™ to connect Awareness, Regulation, Connection, Healing, Reinforcement and Resilience². At Keystone Therapy, it helps give the work direction while leaving room for your individual experience.

Qualifications and professional scope

“Dr” refers to my academic doctorate. I provide counselling and psychotherapy as a Behavioural Neurotherapist; I am not a registered psychologist or medical practitioner. Counselling does not replace medical care or a formal diagnostic assessment.

If you are unsure whether this is the right fit, I offer a free initial consultation so we can talk it through with no obligation. You are also welcome to ask about my qualifications, memberships and fees.
